What's on Your Mind? #1

I'm going to do a bit of what people call "Free Writing".  It's when you type or write down whatever comes to your mind at the time, with no specific topic.  I've personally never done it before, but I hear it's good to do.  It sort of "frees" the mind, although I'm not sure you guys would like mine to be free.  Sometimes I have some sick thoughts - not necessarily murderous, but more likely to be suggestive in nature.

Free writing is good to do if you want to become a novelist.  It shows your creative thoughts have no stopping point, and that if they were harnessed correctly, you could easily spit out pages upon pages in a matter of minutes.  The problem with free writing is that it's uncontrolled.  Sometimes, you may find certain points to not make particular sense, or have any connections to other points.  That makes for a surprisingly confusing story, and we all know confusing stories are bad ones.  Considering this, you might say that every-day conversation with another person is a form of free writing.  Whatever the case may be, remaining silent is not the way out.  Keeping your thoughts bottled up can cause a spontaneous action or thought to surface almost instantaneously.  I personally love surprises, but killing someone along the street because they said "Hi" as they passed is disturbing, and more or less just plain rude.

Wow...believe it or not, free writing is actually hard.  There is no specific way to have non-stop thoughts spill from your mind, unless of course you are one of those psychos who talk a lot.  Those are the kind of people that should be blogging, or writing in journals.  If they learned to control those thoughts, they could be literary gods, and the world needs more of those for sure.

Hmmm, maybe I'll do segments of "What's on Your Mind?" every week on Saturdays!  I'm bound to have different ideas daily, anyways.
